How wonderful to spend my evenings this week immersed in the world of L.K. Rigel’s take on Charlotte Lucas and Mr. Collins, minor characters from Jane Austin’s Pride and Prejudice. I must admit in my own life, I am not like common sense and rooted Charlotte. Even at this age, I am more like Lydia, the scatterbrained, man-crazy daughter of Mr. Bennett. Perhaps that is why I always envied Charlotte’s take on love and marriage. I’ve read a few of Rigel’s works, so when I discovered she was going to expound upon the life of Charlotte and Mr. Collins, I eagerly pre-ordered the book. I wasn’t disappointed when it finally arrived on my kindle. A wonderful tale lovingly told but the author. I so in in the mood now for tea, crumpets and a practical marriage!Product details

Not Romantic A Pride and Prejudice Variation Accomplished Ladies Book 2 edition by Kate Bedlow Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I personally don't tend to read books about what I consider the "side characters" of P&P. However, I read this one and was pleasantly surprised by it. In all honesty, it's been many, many years since I read Jane Austen's P&P. However, I've watched the BBC version with Colin Firth so many times and I think that impression of Charlotte and Mr. Collins has stuck in my brain. Therefore, it was pleasant to read this book that made Charlotte and Mr. Collins more human. In reading this book, I was reminded that Mr. Collins isn't a bad or even a gross person. He's just a little stupid. And this author portrays him as such--generally a good person, lacking in common sense, a little self-important, and socially awkward.
The book description is pretty clear that this is a Charlotte story, so if you don't like them, then don't read this.
This was disappointing and was long awaited. I was under a misunderstanding of the anticipated content. This story is about Charlotte and what we all know is her claim that she is not romantic--which is where the title comes from and all interest remains--which is limited. If you are considering purchasing this book, consider your interest in Charlotte and if you'd like to be bored reading about her. Reading about Charlotte is definitely in the boring sphere.
I like this for what it was, a story about Charlotte, and Mr Collins, and Lady Catherine. It was a deviation from the original story, to be sure, but I think it gives a better twist to this group of misfits.
And interesting well written story from Charlotte's perspective. This is normally not my type of genre, but I really enjoyed this story.
Not romantic, turns out to be very romantic. The adventure in becoming so is very fun. I love reading more about Charlotte and in book 1 Mary. Enjoy the adventure.
I rarely leave reviews, but this one was a great one to read. I love to read well-written stories about Charlotte. This certainly was one of the best I've read. Great read, and I look forward to more by this author.
I like this novella about Charlotte above all in this series. I especially enjoy looking at the other P&P characters through Charlotte’s eyes. Elizabeth comes off looking a bit more like Lydia than she might realize.
